The CNRT has the following mandates:

• Reference diagnostics for Lyme borreliosis and tick-borne encephalitis.
• Maintenance of a reference collection of specimens for tick-borne diseases
• Quality assurance and research in the field of test development
• Information and trainings for professionals and lay people
• Scientific advice
• Support for health authorities in the detection and surveillance of tick-borne diseases (Sentinella)
• Participation in the development and implementation of the Swiss Tick Action Plan
• Networking on a national and international level

An advisory group evaluates the activities of the CNRT and provides recommendations for its activities.
